AustinTuners started out when a few guys in Round Rock got into project cars and modification. After realizing that there was no Austin area forum for project cars they bought the domain and setup a basic forum. One year later the group went from five members to over fifty and growing.

What kind of cars do you guys drive?

The majority of our members drive early 90′s Nissan 240sx’s. However, the best part about the forum is that we are not model/make specific. You can join with any car you have really, as long as you care about it! It just so happens that older japanese cars are cheaper to modify and upgrade when compared to American, German, or (maybe someday) Italian Cars.

Does my car have to be modified to join?

Absolutely not. You can be 100% stock off the lot and still join. This keeps us from excluding newer cars or higher end sport models.  We really can’t stress enough that we are open to all car types.

My car doesn’t run, can I still join?

Neither do most of our member’s project cars, your empty shell is just as welcome here as it was when it ran.

I don’t live in Austin, can I still join?

Sure! In fact, most of us live in suburbs of Austin and its outer limits. You really don’t even have to live in Texas either, we’re cool like that.

Do you guys street race?

Most of our project cars aren’t street legal to begin with, even if they were we would not race them on public roads as it’s not only illegal but highly dangerous. Most of us spend way too much of our hard earned money on our cars to have them totaled or impounded.  Members caught in such activities are subject to banishment.

I put 22′ tri-spoke wheels and green glitter paint on my Caprice, can I join?

This all sounds cool, are there weekly or monthly meetups that I can attend?

While we do not have a set meetup schedule we do try to get most of the group together from time to time when applicable. The forum thread for these meets can be viewed here.
